POINTS OF INTEREST - the provincial capital
of East Java, Surabaya (“Sura”-shark and “baya”-crocodile)
is second in size, population and commerce to Jakarta. Among the things
you can do are:
* see the Heroes’ Monument or visit its Zoo and Kayoon Park or the
Kenjeran Beach Recreational Park. Otherwise you can experience its splendid
shopping complexes - the Tunjungan Plaza, Surabaya Plaza, Galaxy Mall,
Jembatan Merah, Pasar Atum or Pasar Turi.
* cross the Madura Strait, half an hour by ferry from Surabaya, to the
island of Madura famous for its unique bull races.
